Half Memory is about the excavation of memory and imagination. It revisits the fleeting moment and the un-commemorated experience. Devised by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums in partnership with Tusk Music and Pixel Palace, Half Memory is a unique creative production commissioning the talents of musicians, Warm Digits and Richard Dawson to respond to material they’ve unearthed in the vast museum archives and collections.
Richard Dawson is a collision of opposites, his hoarsely cracking voice rising to a delirious soar that’s been compared to Tim Buckley and Richard Youngs. Dawson has taken inspiration from photographs, letters, newspapers and illustrations and turned these obscure North East tales into something quite magical, The Glass Trunk.
Warm Digits’ live electronics, guitar and drums blend a love of Neu!, Kraftwerk, My Bloody Valentine and Giorgio Moroder. They have created Interchange, a stunning film used digitised stills and found footage of a huge civic engineering project in the 1970s and composed a hypnotic soundtrack to accompany it.
